The Rite - Dark Horror Game Texture Collection

The Rite is a 66 Piece Game Texture Collection in the theme of Gothic or Fantasy Horror and includes ground textures with and without opened graves!

No time or effort was spared when it came to attention to detail in the creation of this latest Halloween inspired game texture set.

Working with up to 130 Photoshop layers per texture due to the amount of cracks and weathering on the stone work around the skeletons, of which there are various designs.

The textures do not have transparent windows; instead, the Gothic stone windows are black opaque.

Wall art depicting Biblical figures with contorted demonic faces. Some walls display blood running down from the upper ledges.

The Rite - Work in Progress Dark Fantasy Game Textures

I am not normally driven to do the whole "weeping blood walls" thing but I dunno, it just seemed appropriate for this recent game texture collection I am working on.

It's a bit late for a timely release for Halloween but I guess that's at least in part what inspired me.

These textures displayed in this blog took 2 hours each due to the intricate cracks and broken wall detailing.
They each have over 100 layers in Photoshop of which, none are named!

I am terrible with organizing my layers when I get into the zone, preferring instead to focus on the project itself and not the administration process.

TRU Textures Country Terrain Seamless Textures

I seem to be stuck on the default of  "Must make terrain textures" I just can't seem to make enough!

These are just as good quality as earlier released texture sets but I have kept the price to a minimum by keeping the textures to just 10.

They cost just 350 Linden Dollar. Not bad for the photo realism I don't think!

They take an age to render though, about 30 minutes per 1024 x 1024 pixel texture and so it took me all day to make the pack and then a further hour in Photoshop for post editing.

You can see and/or buy them from direct in our Second Life store by clicking this SLurl

Also available for 350L from the SL Marketplace .

If you wish to use these or any of my textures for grids and virtual worlds not associated with Second Life, you can obtain them under the Any World License from the TRU Textures website as well as an Extended License for projects that include game development, 2D and 3D digital designs both personal and commercial.

Many thanks for looking :)

Forgotten Forest Terrain Game Texture Collection

With the English Autumn now thoroughly set in for the year, I was inspired by my favorite dog walking location, woods and forests.

Nothing is more beautiful or magical to me than damp, mossy forest floors with the reds, oranges, yellows and greens of such a location at this time of year.

Creating terrain textures has always been something I enjoy and customers seem to like.

So, continuing with my manic terrain texture creation theme, I have created what I think will be the last terrain collection for this year.

Created with both Photoshop CS6 (new upgrade!) and my newly purchased Substance Designer 3.1, these 20 textures tile on both axis with no repeats in the same texture allowing more tiling repeats when used on your terrain editor.

Sized 1024 x 1024 Pixels, there is a huge mixture of Autumn ground options with mud, moss, grass, various fallen leaves, mossy stones and even bigger rocks.

You can purchase them for use within Second Life direct from the SL Marketplace for 500 Linden Dollars by clicking this URL. (Second Life account required)

They are also available to view and/or purchase direct from TRU Textures store within Second Life.
Here is the SLurl  (Second Life account required)

For projects on other grids and virtual worlds such as,, etc you can purchase these and other textures under the Any World License from TRU Textures website for approx $3.50

Furthermore, like all of my textures, they can be purchased for commercial use not associated with virtual worlds, including game development or 2D and 3D designer projects under the Extended License, again from the TRU Textures website

Thanks for looking :)

Seamless Fallen Leaves On Alpha Transparent Background Textures

Elizabeth Tinsley, my right hand woman with TRU suggested I made some of these months ago.

So yesterday, I started playing and today, they're finished!

These would be great for use in Second Life applied directly onto sculpted or regular prims to layer over your current terrain textures as well as tree toppers also applied to sculpted tree top maps.

There are 35 textures which have a selection of leaves ranging from Oak, Maple. Silver Maple, Elm, Poplar and a combination of all leaves mixed up together.

They range in density too.

They can be purchased as a collection for licensed use in Second Life for 600 Linden Dollars here:

Like all of my textures, they will also be available for use under extended licenses from and from TRU Textures Website for approx $4.99 (depending on the license type)

Free Seamless Grass Terrain Texture

3D Preview
I have been learning and experimenting with some new software called Substance Designer 3 which cost me almost as much as Photoshop did so I am determined to grasp the concept of creating my own substances...if it drives me nuts!

In the meantime, as I pre ordered version 3 and completed a survey, the makers gave me $150 worth of vouchers which I used on some pre made substances which can be opened and altered to suit using sliders and buttons.

If you want to reverse engineer an .sbs file (the native file format for SD3) you can open the node graph which can have anything up to 400 separate nodes, each with it's own effect on the final output.

It's complex to say the least and up until obtaining these pre made substances I was pulling my hair out trying to learn maths and script and code! ugh!

Anyway, this is a substance that was priced at $5.00.

It's lovely. But I am glad I didn't pay for it because this is all it offers. Daisies at various sizes or on and off. Very limited.

I would like to be able to replace the daisies and the grass with my own seamless photo sources and perhaps blend it will various levels of mud mounds but hey...I am still learning!

So, I cant make a 10 piece texture set of the same daisies on grass so figured I may as well give this away.

It comes with the bump maps below and tiles on both axis.

You may use these textures in personal and commercial projects.
You may not, under any circumstances, redistribute these textures "as" textures in their original or modified state.

Free Seamless Indian Temple Wall Texture With Bump Maps

So, I wrote to the author who took this photo on Flickr over a year ago asking if I could use the photo as a derivative source to a commercial texture collection I had plans on making.
I offered a small token gesture fee of $15.00 but the chap was really nice about it and said I could have it for nothing.

I created a seamless (left to right) texture by selecting some of the statues and positioning them in front of the upper and lower ledge which was from a different photo source of my own and here it is rendered in a 3D engine:

It's been sat on my hard drive for a full year and I can't link it to any existing texture collection so I am going to set it up here for people to download along with the Normal, Height, Specular, Ambient and Curvature map.

I would love feedback on how these maps translate in various 3D applications as what looks OK in my 3D render may suck in a game engine or a piece of software I am not using.

3D maps are still a learning curve for me so as I say, any feedback, good or bad, as long as it's constructive is much appreciated!

These maps are 2048 x 2048 Pixels:
